The cigarette making machine (see Fig. 1) has a base 1, a vertical pipe 2, a section 3 for forming a tobacco rod, a conveyor 4 formed by an endless belt 5 (breathable). ,
The pipe 2 has a rectangular cross section and is bounded by the front and rear walls b in the direction of rotation clockwise. The tape 5 covers the rollers 7 and 8, the axes of which are perpendicular to the walls 6. The roller 8 is located above the roller 7. The lower branch 9 and the upper branch 10 of the tape 5 have a direction from left to right and slope upwards.
Branch 9 closes the outlet of pipe 2, and its left knob goes to discharge unit 11, where tobacco is delivered to section 3. Tape 5 moves along the perimeter of box 12 bounding chamber 13. The latter has a wall 14 at the bottom with holes 15 and through a pipeline 16 is connected to the suction system.

The machine is equipped with a device for cutting the rod 24 (see Fig. 1), which acts on the rod when it is located between the pipe 2 and the unloading unit 11.
A tobacco rod cutting machine comprises a box 25 (see Fig. 2 attached to the base 1 of a cigarette making machine. A box 26, having a vertical groove 27, is attached to the box 25. Two horizontal pins 28 with cutting pass through it, secured in a bracket 29, mounted on the base 1, and nuts 30 are fastened to the end of the spire 28 to secure the box 25 to the bracket 29.
In the box 25, there are horizontal shafts 31 and 32, on which gears 33 and 34 are fixed.
The shaft 31 vykhrdit out of the box 25 and is connected by transmission means containing a sliding shaft and a double universal joint (node 35, with a drive shaft 36.
Shafts 37 and 38 pass through the upper wall of the box 25, and their axes converge at a point located on the axis of the shaft 32.
At the lower ends of the shafts 37 and 38, bevel gears 39 and 40, which are in mutual engagement, are mounted. The wheel 39 is engaged with the wheel 41 fixedly mounted on the shaft 32.
The shafts 37 and 38 above end with flanges 42, to which the disk knives 45 are fastened with screws 43 through adjusting means 44. The latter have the shape of a truncated cone with surface 46 and contain a cutting edge 47 extending around the circumference of the large base. Their cutting edges 47 touch their surface 46 along the generatrix and are in contact with the lower surface of the tobacco rod 22. Along the forming disk knives 45 there are grooves 48 distributed in increments equal to the length of a cigarette (L or LZ). On the upper wall of the box there are guides 49 and 50, between which an O-shaped slide 51 is installed. Two vertical plates 52 and 53 of the slide are in contact with the guides 49 and 50 and are arranged in parallel planes at an angle to the feed direction of the tobacco Noh rod 22, Near the upper end of the plates 52 and 53 mounted perpendicular to them rotatably; roller 54.
In the gap between these plates on the roller 54 is fixed brush. It can be cylindrical or made in the form of a wheel 55 with blades 56, the ends of which touch the circular knives 45 slightly in the zone of their contact.
The right end of the roller 54 is connected to a vertical roller 57 by a pair of bevel gears 58 and 59 enclosed in a casing 60 attached to a plate 53, the roller 57 is mounted to be vertically slidable in the sleeve 61 extending out of the box 25, and is rotated from shaft 31.
If the brush is made in the form of a wheel 55 with blades 56, it is made with a bevel 62 (so that it does not jam the circular knives 7 and is set so that the grooves 48 and the bevel 62 come into the zone of contact of the knives 45 at the same time. The latter rotate in opposite directions .
When the tobacco rod 22 leaves the pipe 2, knives 45 act on it. A device for cutting the tobacco rod can be made in another embodiment. In this case, it is made in the form of a device 67 (see Fig. 6) having a pipe 68 connected to the box 25 by means of a flange 69 in which the shaft 31 is mounted on bearings 70.
The shaft 31 and the pair of bevel gears 71 and 72 constitute the means for transmitting the movement between the horizontal drive shaft 73, perpendicular to the shaft 31, and the drive means for the blades 45.
The gear 72 and the shaft 73 are placed in a pipe 74 attached to the pipe 63 and to the base 1 of the machine and can rotate around its axis.
In the device of this construction, instead of a rectilinear vertical groove 27, there is a crank groove 75, which is made along an arc of a circle with a center located on the axis of the shaft 73.
The position of the box 25 is adjusted by loosening the nuts 30 and the subsequent rotation of the box around the axis of the shaft 73..
Thus, when the device is executed both in one and the other variants, the changeover of its operation from one to another cigarette size occurs quickly and this provides an increase in productivity in comparison with known similar devices.
